Samman Diwas 2023

The ‘Samman Diwas’ was organized by Salwan Education Trust to honour the indomitable courage, duty, dedication, selfless spirit and strong resolve of our brave soldiers in the Armed Forces. The 19th ‘Samman Diwas’ was held on December 2, 2023, at Salwan Public School, Gurugram. The Chief Guest for the event was General Manoj Pande, Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, Aide De Camp and Smt. Archana Pandey, President of Army Wives Welfare Association, graced the event. The Guest of Honour  Major Gen C G Muralidharan, Commandant Base Hospital Delhi Cantt was present to inaugurate the Rakt Daan Shivir and the Guest of Honour, Lieutenant General Bhavneesh Kumar, Vishisht Seva Medal, General Officer Commanding Delhi joined the programme. Shri Shiv Dutt Salwan Ji who is the Chairman Emeritus of  Salwan Education Trust and the Chairman of our school also attended the event.

The program began with the welcome of the Chief Guest, a Guard of Honour by NCC cadets contingent marching to the tune played by the school band. Sir paid homage to the sacrifices of the martyred heroes for the nation’s security and peace at the replica of the war memorial. In his address, the Chief Guest encouraged youth to serve the country in their respective fields, commended the trust for organizing blood donation drives, and praised the vibrant cultural presentations by students.

The Chairman of Salwan Education Trust, Shri Sushil Dutt Salwan, addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude to honoured guests, acknowledging the sacrifices of valiant soldiers and Veer Naaris, and assuring parents that children would achieve great heights after leaving the school. Padma Shri Awardees- Sh. Ajay Kumar Mandavi, Sh. Anoop Ranjan Pandey,  Sh. Hemchandra Goswami, Sh. Nekram Sharma and Veer Naaris were also honoured during the event.

Subedar Major Bablee Singh  and Naik Satyapal Singh, both honoured with Army Medals, were recognized for their exceptional courage and bravery. The cultural program featured a welcome song, superhero dance, and a musical dance drama titled ‘Chakra: Spiritual Power.’

The concluding remarks were made by the School President, Sara Khan, who thanked all the attendees for their presence. As part of the ‘Save the Artisans’ initiative in collaboration with the Indian Trust for Rural Heritage and Development, an exhibition showcasing excellent craftsmanship was inaugurated by Smt. Archana Pande.

Overall, the ‘Samman Diwas’ celebrated the valour of our Armed Forces and highlighted the importance of patriotism, sacrifice, and dedication to build responsible citizens.
