The Desh Aur Hum 2.0 Felicitation Ceremony held on August 4th, 2023, was a grand event organized by the National Academy of Direct Taxes in collaboration with the Salwan Education Trust. It brought together 150 schools from 11 states to participate in various competitions and showcase their creativity and abilities on a national stage. The event aimed to raise awareness about taxation and its significance for the growth of the nation.
The ceremony began with a warm welcome for the chief guests, Shri Ravi Aggarwal and Shri Sushil Dutt. The auspicious Deep Prajwalan (Lighting of the lamp) was performed by esteemed guests, symbolizing the bestowing of eternal knowledge. The choir group of Salwan Public School Rajendra Nagar sang a beautiful “welcome” song to set the tone for the event.
A video showcased the great achievements of the Income Tax department, highlighting the successful implementation of a fully online taxation system that contributed to the growth of the nation. The event also featured a video recapping the previous year’s Desh Aur Hum event and the increase in participation this year.
The various competitions included Rendezvous Voice of India, Creative Musings poetry, From the Stroke of My Pen essay writing, Aghaaz Nukkad Natak, Voice of Art poster making, Game-A-Thon, and Reverberate jingle making. Each competition had winners in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and two consolation positions.
The chairman of Salwan Education Trust, Sushil Dutt Salwan, addressed the gathering and emphasized the connection between taxpayers’ contributions and the development of the nation. He also spoke about initiatives taken by the trust to educate students about the taxation process.
The event featured captivating performances, including a jingle performance on the theme of “Skill India” and a thought-provoking Nukkad Natak by DAV School addressing current issues and conveying a positive message.
The chief guest of honour encouraged students to ask their parents about tax filing and emphasized that sensitizing the younger generation toward the nation’s development is crucial for a brighter future.
The ceremony concluded with the felicitation of winners and a vote of thanks. The event was deemed successful and ended with the hope for more such initiatives in the future.
